What are raspberry ketones?

First of all, what are they? Well, raspberry ketones make up the main aroma compound found in red raspberries - in other words, it is the substance that gives the berries their delicious, fruity smell. But how do they relate to slimming?

Raspberry ketones and slimming

You will no doubt at least have heard mention of raspberry ketones for loosing weight. This is because, while raspberries have long been known for their health-promoting properties, it has more recently been discovered that their ketones actually provide a powerful fat-burning hormone which can be particularly helpful for slimmers.

Interestingly, raspberries also have a molecular structure that is similar to that of capsaicin - a component of capsicum - accounting for their powerful thermogenic actions.

(Thermogenic means tending to produce heat, and the term is commonly applied to drugs which increase heat through metabolic stimulation.

In bodybuilding, athletes wishing to lose fat use drugs which are purportedly thermogenic to increase their basal metabolic rate, thereby increasing their energy expenditure. )

''The fruit of Capsicum plants have a variety of names depending on place and type. The piquant (spicy) variety are commonly called chili peppers, or simply "chilies". The large mild form is called red pepper, green pepper or bell pepper in North America and typically just "capsicum" in New Zealand,[3] Australia, and India. The fruit is called paprika in some other countries (although paprika can also refer to the powdered spice made from various capsicum fruit)'' Wikipedia

Why raspberry ketones are big right now!

Raspberry ketones have enjoyed a lot of media attention in recent times, resulting in a massive surge in their popularity. Raspberry ketones based weight loss supplements, in particular, have seen a huge boost in sales as retail customers learn more about these powerful weight management support nutrients and witness their results.

Research has shown that raspberry ketones can help the body to burn fat by increasing lipolysis (fat breakdown); helping to increase the rate at which calories are burned; and helping to increase fat loss as part of a balanced, calorie-controlled diet. The raspberry ketone compound is also involved in regulating adiponectin - a protein used by the body to regulate metabolism.

The recommended daily intake of raspberry ketones is 100mg per day. To get the same benefit from the whole fruit, the user would have to consume 90 pounds of raspberries!

Have you heard about the new weight loss wonder product GREEN COFFEE BEAN extract is trending across social media sites and is set to be the new big thing.

Green coffee beans are the raw beans before they have been raosted. The reason the absence of the roasting is because it reduces the amounts of the active substance in the beans - CHLOROGENIC ACID.

Chlorogenic acid in green coffee beans has been shown in studies to have potential health benefits for the heart, diabetes and, most notably, for weight loss.

The acids affects how the body handles blood sugar and metabolism. More specifically it burns the stored fat first,

It also slows the conversion of sugar into glucose. The result being a higher rate of fat burning.

There is an immediate benefit, as well as a longet term one.

It hinders fat accumulation, supports weigh loss, reduces carbohydrate absorbtion and helps to regulate blood sugar (this supports appetite control and reducing cravings)

A study in India found that people taking pills with green coffee bean extract lost an average of 18 pounds - 10% of their body weight - over a period of 22 weeks. The study, published in the journal Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity, tested two doses of extract - 700 and 1,050mg per day.
